Using Basic HTML to Format Text in Inventory Fields and Content Snippets

You can use basic HTML code to style text within certain inventory fields and content snippets.

The inventory fields allow you to add text to each unit individually that you think the customer may find useful. You can edit the inventory fields by found by logging into your admin panel and clicking the Inventory icon at the top and then clicking “Inventory Manager”. While on this page you may either create a new unit or select an existing unit and scroll to the bottom of the page where you will see the Comments field and Description field.

Your content snippets allow you to access text areas that are not normally accessible by the inline editor. A common place for content snippets is the home page where you may have an About Us section. You can edit the content snippets by logging into your admin panel and clicking the Content icon at the top and then clicking “Content Snippets”. While on this page you may select from the drop-down the content snippet you would like to edit.

In HTML code there are “elements” which will almost always contain an opening & closing tag with the content (text) sandwiched in between.

If you do not correctly use the opening or closing tag, all the elements on the page may break until you resolve the error.

Some basic HTML code will follow below:

Heading elements have an opening and closing tag of <h1></h1>. The number following "H" can be 1-6. The largest heading is 1 and it progressively decreases in size until 6.
Paragraph elements organize text into segments on the page. They have an opening and closing tag of <p></p>. Each paragraph should have its own opening and closing tag.

Line break elements push the content after it to the next line below. It does not have an opening and closing tag but is rather a single tag <br />. You may add one or several line break elements depending on how much space you need.
Anchor elements (hyperlinks) may also be added with the opening tag <a href=””> and closing tag </a>. The href attribute contains the page address your link connects to. Add the attribute target with a value of _blank (as shown below) if you want the link to open in a new tab.

The CSS style attribute can set size, color, and other styling properties. Each style attribute contains one or more property-value pair style="property:value;". For instance, style=”color:blue;font-weight:bold;”. Here are a few examples of what you can do.

Note:

HTML code in the inventory fields and content snippets will always display as code through the admin panel so that you may go back in and adjust it to your liking. The styling only takes effect on the front end of the website.
